Katie Cassidy

Katherine Evelyn Anita « Katie » Cassidy (Born November 25, 1986, in Los Angeles, California) is an American actress and model.

When she was in elementary school, Katie discovered a passion for the entertainment industry and participated in several theater productions from the age of 7. As a teenager, Katie studied acting with a coach. She first embarked on modeling that culminated in an advertising campaign for Abercrombie & Fitch in 2004. Her mother did not allow her to start her acting career until she graduated from high school with college preparatory courses.

In 2006, she had minor roles in the movies When a Stranger Calls and Click: Remote Control Your Life. The movie Click was number 1 in the box office with a budget of 40 million dollars. She also played the role of Kelli Presley in the movie, Black Christmaswhich is the remake of the 1974 film of the same name. The film was released in December 2006 and cashed $ 21 million.

In 2007, she had a role in the movie Spin as well as in the movie Live! where she played the role of Jewel Jensen, an aspiring Hollywood actress. Also in 2007, she shot several scenes for the remake film Revenge of the Nerds along with Adam Brody and Jenna Dewan. The production was stopped and the movie was eventually cancelled.

In 2008, she had the role of Amanda in the film Taken, then she had a recurring role in the series Supernatural.

In 2009, Katie was Patricia ‘Trish’ Wellington in the Harper’s Island miniseries on CBS. That same year, Katie signs to play one of the main characters in the Melrose Place: New Generation series, which is a spin-off of the 1990s Melrose Place series. She played the role of Ella Simms, a journalist working for Amanda Woodward’s company. The media drew similarities between Katie‘s character and Heather Locklear’s character, Amanda, from Melrose Place. Ella’s role attracted positive reviews from the Los Angeles Times who wrote: Katie is already identified as one of the delicious underdogs of the series”, and she’s been quoted as ‘the best thing about the Melrose Place spin-off’. The series aired for the first time on September 8, 2009 and was cancelled after one season.

In 2010, Katie joined the cast of the movie A Nightmare on Elm Street. She played the role of Kris Fowles, a friend of the main character Nancy Holbrook (played by Rooney Mara)The filming began on April 30, 2010 in Chicago. Katie was nominated at the Teen Choice Awards in the category of “Horror / Thriller movie actress” but it was actress Megan Fox who won.

Katie then had one of the three main roles in the romantic comedy, Monte Carlo, alongside Selena Gomez and Leighton Meester. The film was shot in Budapest, Paris and Monte Carlo from May 5 to July 7, 2010 and was released at the cinema on July 1, 2011.

In June 2010, she played the role of Juliet Sharp, a recurring role, in the fourth season of the series Gossip Girl. She appeared in eleven episodes of Season 4.

In March 2011, she had a role to shoot in the pilot episode of a new series on ABC Family called Georgetown. She was to play the role of Nikki, a member of the staff of the White House Communications Bureau, intelligent and quick-witted, having a connection with the First Lady. However, in May 2011, ABC decides not to take the series. In June 2011, Katie replaced Sienna Miller in the movie Freaky Deaky and in July 2011, it was announced that she would join the cast of the comedy-drama, Bumped. She then appeared in an episode of the New Girl series.

In February 2012, Katie gets the main role of Dinah Laurel Lance a.k.a. Black Canary in the new series of The CW, Arrow, which is based on the Green Arrow comic books. The series premiered on October 10, 2012. Then on April 6, 2016, her character Laurel was killed off in episode 18 of Season 4.

In May 2012, Katie was cast as the title character in the film adaptation of the graphic novel The Scribbler, alongside Eliza Dushku, Michelle Trachtenberg and Gina Gershon. She played Suki, a young woman with dissociative identity disorder.

 On May 17, 2016, Katie guest-starred on the CW TV series The Flash for a second time, in her new role as metahuman Black Siren, the Earth-2 doppelganger of Laurel Lance. In the episode “Invincible” of season 2. Also, it was announced on July 23, 2016, that Katie had signed a deal with Warner Bros. to appear across multiple CW shows, including Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow.

In 2016, Katie portrayed the character of Sharon (a character inspired by late fashion model and actress Sharon Tate) in the horror film Wolves at the Door, loosely based on the Manson Family’s murders, which went direct-to-digital-HD.

On March 27, 2017, an announcement was made that Katie would be returning as a series regular to Arrow for the show’s sixth season. That same year, she starred in the PlayStation 4 video game called Hidden Agenda as character Becky  Marney (voice/motion capture).

In Katie‘s personal life, she and her fiance Matthew Rodgers announced their engagement on June 5, 2017, the couple began dating in 2016.
